Energia Group has received approval to build two data centers next to the Huntstown Power Station in Dublin, Ireland. The project will be developed on 13.3 hectares of land, currently used for agricultural purposes, and will involve the demolition of two residential dwellings. The company plans to invest approximately €87 million in the development.
The planned data centers, known as Buildings A and B, will each be three stories tall with a gross floor area of around 37,647 square meters. Despite concerns about fossil fuel usage, Energia has stated that the facility will be carbon neutral and has already secured a connection to the grid from EirGrid, avoiding restrictions on new data center developments in the Dublin area.
Huntstown Power Company, a subsidiary of Energia Group, operates the nearby 742MW gas-fired power plant, which supplies up to 20 percent of Ireland’s energy needs. In addition to the data center project, Energia is also developing a biogas plant at the site, furthering its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
