WorldVuer iByond has announced plans to develop what it describes as Asia’s first Quantum AI Data Center, located on Batam Island, Indonesia. The initiative involves a proposed investment of IDR 6.5 trillion (approximately $400 million) and aims to introduce quantum computing capabilities tailored for artificial intelligence workloads. Although specific technical details and timelines remain undisclosed, the project signals a strategic move near Singapore’s tech corridor.
The facility will be situated within the Tunas Prima Industrial Estate and is backed by WorldVuer iByond, a joint venture between video conferencing hardware firm Worldvuer and data management company iByond. Key stakeholders, including Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Investment and WorldVuer iByond’s advisory leadership, were present during the signing ceremony, marking an official start to incentive negotiations with the government.
Despite limited insight into infrastructure specs, the announcement reflects growing regional momentum toward advanced data solutions. With Batam’s proximity to major cloud players and connectivity hubs, the location could position the data center to attract high-density AI applications and contribute to Indonesia’s digital transformation goals.
