Lumina CloudInfra, the data center platform of global asset manager Blackstone Group, is expanding its presence in India with the acquisition of land in Mumbai's Chandivali area. The company has secured approximately four acres of land, comprising two adjacent parcels measuring 2.04 acres and 1.75 acres, for a total investment of Rs 475 crore (approximately US$53 million).
This acquisition is set to facilitate the development of a new 60MW hyperscale data center, with plans for two 30MW units. This development aligns with Blackstone's broader strategy in India, which includes a planned capacity of 600MW across hyperscale data centers. Lumina CloudInfra already has existing projects in Navi Mumbai and Hyderabad, further solidifying its position as a significant player in the Indian data center market. Mumbai continues to be a key hub for data center development in India, driven by rapid cloud adoption and increasing data localization requirements.
