Meta is partnering with Reliance Industries to establish its first AI-enabled data center in Jamnagar, India. This 168 MW facility, developed and operated by Reliance under a built-to-suit model, will support Meta's global AI compute needs and its ambitions in "personal superintelligence".
The data center will be powered by renewable energy sources and utilize desalinated seawater for cooling, with Meta covering power and water expenses. This strategic deployment in India, Meta's largest market for Facebook users and AI usage, aims to scale its AI infrastructure globally and deepen its investment in the region.
Located in Jamnagar, which already hosts Reliance's extensive refining and petrochemical operations, the site benefits from proximity to submarine cable landings on India's western coast and Reliance's fiber network. This initiative marks a significant step in the collaboration between Meta and Reliance, positioning Jamnagar as a key destination for hyperscale AI computing.
