Pelagos Data Centres is developing a 250MW off-grid data center campus in Gibraltar, marking the territory’s largest infrastructure investment to date, £1.8 billion ($2.24 billion). The facility will span 20,000 square meters near the Port of Gibraltar and be built in five phases, with the first phase expected to go live in late 2027.
Technically, the site will meet Tier III standards and operate with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of approximately 1.2. It will feature both liquid and air cooling systems, and be powered independently from Gibraltar’s grid using a mix of renewable energy and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Pelagos also plans to integrate heat recovery for community use and include a public leisure facility on-site. The project positions Gibraltar as a strategic AI and cloud infrastructure hub for Europe.
