Sommerlad Data Center

A new data center development is proposed for Wettenberg, Germany, located at Am Augarten 9. The project, a collaboration between furniture and interior design company Sommerlad and Data Center Group GmbH, aims to utilize approximately 30,000 sqm of undeveloped land. The facility will include an office building, battery storage, and photovoltaic systems. A key feature of the development is the planned utilization of waste heat to warm local community buildings. The site's proximity to a substation, the major data center market of Frankfurt, and the university town of Giessen are considered advantageous. Concerns regarding the removal of a rainwater retention basin and the placement of battery storage near a nature reserve have been raised. The project is expected to stimulate local economic growth and job creation.
