JGU Gutenberg Campus Data Center

The JGU Gutenberg Campus Data Center, located in Mainz, Germany, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to support the IT infrastructure of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) and National High-Performance Computing (NHR) initiatives. Opened in August 2025, the data center emphasizes security, availability, and system performance to facilitate cutting-edge research and university operations.

Key features include optimized energy and resource efficiency through advanced cooling systems, heat recovery, and photovoltaic power generation, contributing to its sustainability. The facility is certified according to DIN EN 50600, ensuring high standards for availability, reliability, security, energy efficiency, and sustainability. It houses the university's entire IT infrastructure, systems for the Rhineland-Palatinate science network, and the MOGON NHR South-West supercomputer. With a total floor space of 1,870 m² and a maximum IT load of 3,600 kW, the data center is built to guarantee nearly 100% operational reliability for critical services.
