The City of Hanau has secured financing for a new municipal data center, led by BeteiligungsHolding Hanau GmbH (BHG). The project is backed by an €500,000 loan, with 80% guaranteed by the city government.

The facility will be built at the Hanauer Straßenbahn site, replacing the existing data center, which is slated to make way for an electric vehicle charging station. Construction is scheduled to begin in Q4 2025, with operations expected to start in Q1 2026.

Designed to support local government and business IT workloads, the new data center will be compact, measuring 14 meters in length and 3.2 meters in width. Specific capacity details have not been disclosed.
