DATA4 Valenciennes

DATA4 is developing a significant data center campus in Escaudain, France, near Valenciennes, on the former Usinor industrial site. This €5 billion project, spanning 38 hectares, is slated for commissioning by 2030 and aims to create 2,400 jobs. The campus is designed with eco-responsible principles, including limited water consumption, green roofs and facades, waste heat recovery, and an estimated PUE of 1.2. It will feature 2,500 trees and a six-hectare biodiversity reserve. An information building will be accessible to the public, alongside an incubator and repair café to promote responsible innovation. The site benefits from easy access to energy and a cooler climate, making the Hauts-de-France region conducive to data center development. The project is part of a broader initiative to transform the mining basin into a hub for innovation and energy transition.
