EDF’s Val-de-Reuil data center, known as NOÉ, was inaugurated in 2010 as a strategic hub for consolidating the company’s IT infrastructure. Located in Eure, France, the facility spans 15,000 m² and includes eight IT rooms and two technical buildings. It was designed to host EDF’s internal applications and supercomputing systems, supporting scientific modeling and smart grid development.
The center was built with a strong focus on energy efficiency and environmental impact. It consumes 12 MW for IT operations and 8 MW for cooling, with advanced climate control systems that reduce energy use by 25%, saving 17,400 MWh annually. These measures help avoid 4,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year, earning the site a PUE rating of 1.5 and placing it at Green Grid’s “Silver” level.
NOÉ also features high availability and resilience, meeting Tier IV standards with 99.995% uptime. Its first supercomputer includes 16,000 processors, enabling precise simulations of materials, fluid dynamics, and energy systems. This infrastructure supports EDF’s innovation goals and contributes to the company’s broader energy transition strategy.
