OpCore, a data center company backed by Iliad and InfraVia, has been selected to develop a new facility in Montereau Vallée de la Seine, France. The site sits on a 20-hectare parcel formerly occupied by the Montereau Power Plant, which was dismantled by EDF.
The location spans the municipalities of La Grande-Paroisse and Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine, about 75 kilometers southeast of Paris. It offers grid access of up to 700MW, though specific design or timeline details haven’t been released yet.
This is the first of four EDF-owned plots earmarked for data center development. EDF launched Project Giga to support low-carbon power supply for AI-scale facilities. The initiative could bring up to 2GW of data center capacity nationwide.
OpCore was established in 2023 when Iliad spun off its data center assets from Scaleway. It currently operates sites in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Poland, totaling around 131MW. With InfraVia’s investment, OpCore aims to scale toward several hundred megawatts across Europe.
