Pohjan Voima Mykkä

Pohjan Voima Oy is planning a significant data center development on a 60-hectare site in the Mykkä area, located approximately 10 kilometers north of Keminmaa in Finland's Lapland region. While specific project details are limited, construction could commence within two years, with a final investment decision anticipated in 2027/2028. Keminmaa's Mayor Hannele Matinlassi views the data center as a crucial development that could attract technology companies and benefit local residents and businesses. Pohjan Voima, which has a substantial portfolio of renewable energy projects and is investing in battery storage, is carefully considering local input for the Mykkä site. The company is majority-owned by Swedish renewables firm Arise AB, with minority stakes held by LähiTapiola and its management.
