Bitdeer Oromia

The Bitdeer Oromia data center, located in Holeta, Ethiopia, officially commenced operations in January 2024. This facility benefits from a strategic location and a direct power supply agreement with the Ethiopian national grid. Its electricity is sourced from the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Africa's largest hydropower project, boasting a total installed capacity of 6,000MW.

The first phase of the project has successfully deployed 70MW, operating with a strong safety record. The data center is situated within a 500MW mining farm area, supported by a 500KV substation. Ethiopia's high altitude and mild year-round temperatures (10-20 degrees Celsius) provide an optimal natural environment for data center operations. The country's extensive river and lake systems further contribute to its designation as the 'Water Tower of East Africa,' ensuring a stable and sustainable energy supply.
