Prime Data Centers, in partnership with Brunswick Real Estate, is developing a significant hyperscale data center campus, named Prime Esbjerg Campus (ESB01), located on Nordre Tovrupvej in Esbjerg, Denmark. The planned campus spans 640,000 sqm (6.88 million sq ft) on land owned by the Esbjerg Municipality.
The project is currently undergoing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, with an ambitious target of 550MW of IT capacity. Construction of the initial data center is slated to begin in 2027, with the first capacity expected to be operational by late 2029. The first phase alone will provide 160MW of IT capacity, representing an initial investment of approximately €2 billion ($2.3 billion). The full development, reaching 550MW, could see a total investment of up to €6 billion ($6.91 billion).
Prime Data Centers highlights Esbjerg's strategic advantages, including abundant renewable energy sources, robust submarine cable connectivity to continental Europe, and strong municipal support, making it an attractive location for digital infrastructure. The company is also committed to exploring waste heat recovery opportunities.
