Telconet, in partnership with Vertiv, is developing a submarine cable landing station (CLS) at Playa Salgar, located west of Barranquilla, Colombia. This CLS is a critical node in the CSN-1 (Carnival Submarine Networks-1) system, which spans from Florida to Ecuador. The station will support edge services and enhance Colombia’s international connectivity by establishing its second direct submarine cable link.
Despite regulatory challenges, including the revocation of operational licenses for Telconet’s affiliated company Cable Andino by Ecuador’s Arcotel, the project continues forward, reinforcing Telconet's commitment to regional infrastructure expansion. The cable, constructed in collaboration with Alcatel Submarine Networks, is expected to be operational by 2026.
