151 Front Street West in Toronto, is the primary interconnection facility in Canda. The carrier hotel has a total of 205,000 sq. ft / 19,045 sq. m of data center space available over 8 floors, as well as more than 100 networks available on-site.
History
The building was initially constructed in 1954 by CNR, who used it as the main switching facility for telegrams. CNR is short for Canadian National Railways, and hence explains its location next to the reail line and the Union Station.
Due to the telegraph equipment, the building was consturcted with floors to support heavy loads, high power capacity and high ceiling heights.
After it had served its purpose of housing telegraph equipment the building was used for mixed-use, before later being converted to data center use.

Northam Realty Advisors purchased the building from Trizec Properties in January 2004 for $59 million. Trizec Properties (formerly known as TrizecHahn) acquired it in 1997 and since developed it in to the premium carrier hotel it has become.
