Keephills Data Centre

The Keephills Data Centre, located in Kapasiwin, Alberta, Canada, is a significant data center development project spearheaded by TransAlta. This initiative is being advanced through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) and Brookfield.

The project is planned for phased development at TransAlta's Keephills site. The initial phase includes a long-term power purchase agreement for approximately 230 MW. The framework also allows for the evaluation of further development, with the potential to aggregate up to 1 GW of load.

This strategic location benefits from TransAlta's extensive land holdings, existing transmission lines, natural gas and water infrastructure, and on-site generation capabilities, supporting the project's long-term scalability. The development is contingent upon regulatory approvals and the finalization of binding agreements between the parties involved.
