China Education and Research Network (CERNET) is China’s largest national academic Internet, established in 1994 with support from the Chinese government. Managed by the Ministry of Education, its backbone network is operated by Tsinghua University and other top universities.

CERNET connects over 2,000 universities across China, serving 20 million users through a 22,000 km optical fiber transmission network and a 100 Gbps backbone. It plays a crucial role in education informatization and scientific research, providing advanced Internet services for students and faculty.

As an experimental base for next-generation Internet research, CERNET has contributed to fundamental Internet technology advancements and international academic collaborations. It also hosts an annual conference to promote innovation and cooperation in Internet development.
