Rio AI City is a pioneering digital ecosystem developed by Elea Data Centers in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Located in the Olympic Park, this ambitious project is designed to support AI and cloud computing across Latin America. The first phase will provide 1.5 GW of certified renewable energy, with the potential to scale up to 3.2 GW, making it one of the world’s largest digital infrastructure projects.

The city is built with sustainability at its core, utilizing 100% renewable energy, zero water cooling systems, and green architecture. Strategically positioned, it connects directly to submarine cable hubs and operates on one of the world’s most stable power grids (99.8% availability). The phased development includes the operational RJO1 site and the upcoming RJO2, set to begin construction in 2026.

Beyond technology, Rio AI City is part of Rio’s urban revitalization efforts, aiming to enhance the city’s global competitiveness. The project is expected to generate over 10,000 skilled jobs, attract billions in investments, and foster digital upskilling for locals. With reforested green zones, residential hubs, and cultural spaces, it is designed to be a smart city for innovation, integrating sustainability, technology, and community.
