ChillMine

ChillMine, a U.S.-based cloud computing firm, has partnered with Dutch energy developer AAAS Energy to build a solar-powered data center campus near Palapye, Botswana. The facility will be located at the Leupane Energy Hub, which is being developed to support up to 500MW of solar and 200MW of gas-fired generation.

The project is designed to serve hyperscale cloud providers and AI workloads, with a focus on energy-intensive computing. It will leverage a mix of solar PV, battery energy storage, and natural gas to offer reliable, low-cost power. The companies aim to position the site as a high-performance, sustainable infrastructure hub for global tech firms expanding into Africa.
