Goodman Property Services has received approval for the 135MW Goodman Macquarie Park data center, a AUD 1.365 billion project located at 4-10 Talavera Road, Macquarie Park, Sydney. The facility will span 23,190 square metres with eight data halls across four levels and a maximum building height of 45 metres.
The data center will incorporate large-scale evaporative cooling, diesel backup generation, and lithium-ion battery systems. A key requirement for operation is that Goodman must demonstrate its electricity demand is matched by a portfolio of additional, firmed renewable energy supply at all times, necessitating NSW-based power purchase and firming agreements.
The project is expected to create up to 400 construction jobs and 60 operational jobs. The approval process involved assessments of environmental, infrastructure, and amenity impacts, with conditions of consent to manage noise, air quality, and water usage.
