The Microsoft Cawley Road Campus, located in Yarraville near Melbourne, Australia, is a significant expansion of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. This two-building campus, comprising MEL04 and MEL05, began construction in December 2022. Building One (MEL04) reached structural completion in 2023 and became operational by February 2025. Building Two (MEL05) was developed concurrently, with structural works finished by February 2025 and ongoing fit-out and landscaping. The original proposal for MEL04 outlined approximately 5,000 square meters of data hall and plant areas within a 22,500 square meter site. The campus is equipped with dedicated electrical infrastructure, including an on-site substation, and robust backup generation systems to ensure continuous operations. Microsoft has also integrated community and environmental management practices into the campus's development and operation.
