Digital Realty is the owner and operator of one of the largest data centers in the world at 350 East Cermak, with over 1.1 million square feet of space and over 100 MW of utility power. 350 East Cermak is the most interconnected multi-tenant datacenter in the Midwest with over 70 network providers and is also in close proximity to network, cloud, and content ecosystems available within the metro.

Located in the South Loop of the Chicago Central Business District 350 E. Cermak is the premier mission critical data center and telecommunications facility in the Midwest. The property boasts significant electrical and HVAC infrastructure as well as robust telecom access critical to enterprise data center tenants.

Currently known as the Lakeside Technology Center, the building is located in the Prairie Avenue District of Chicago’s Near South Side, near McCormick Place and the Museum Campus. The facility is minutes away from Chicago financial district. Major transportation hubs are in close proximity, as well as O’Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW) International Airports.

History
Originally known as The R.R Donnelley Printing Plant, and later as The Calumet Plant or The Lakeside Plant, 350 E Cermak construction started in 1912. It was constructed to house a printing company called originally and hence built to support heavy printing equipment, which made it obvious for servers as well. In 1999 it was retrofitted to be a carrier hotel and is today one of the most important data centers in the region.
