The Cobalt Data Campus sits at the heart of the Coablt Park office scheme which is the largest office Park in the UK and has occupiers including HP,EDS,Orange, Proctor & Gamble and a number of government occupiers.
The Cobalt data centre Campus commenced with DC1 which was completed to Shell and Core standard in August 2010. This first building is 4,264 sq metres and is split into 4 separate equal halls of 1,066 sq metres with each hall having separate plant and servicing to meet the Uptime Institute Tier 3+ standard. The basic power density is 1,400 watts per metre squared but this can be increased. The power is on hand directly from the National Grid via 4 separate 20 MVA feeds to 2 separate sub stations. There is no holding nor capacity charge for the electricity so there will be no additional overhead charges as the centre is ramped up to full capacity.
Funding is held as cash at bank available for the fit out of each hall. The professional team is led by Cundalls (M&E consultants) and Woods Bagot (architects). The design can be flexed to suit any tenant requirements and the specification can be enhanced up to a Tier 4 (M&E) Uptime status.
Due to government assistance, a very competitive rental rate is available on this state of the art space.
Another data centre providing 3,360 sq metres is under detailed design development and an expected start on site will be made in the 3rd quarter 2011. The building will be split into 4 halls (2 0f 720 sq m and 2 of 960 sq m) and is designed so that it will either be air cooled (with a projected PUE of 1.1) or for more intensive use water cooled CRAC units.
The scheme has the benefit of excellent cable connectivity.
