Redcentric's next generation data centre in Reading offers next generation 'energy efficient' technology and equipment throughout and is designed to provide reliable, secure and affordable colocation and hosting services outside of central London and the M25 ring. The Reading Data Centre has 15,000 ft² of hosting space and we offer a variety of solutions including full rack colocation, managed colocation and virtual servers. Accredited with PCI DSS for Physical Hosting Services, ISO27001 and ISO9001 our Reading colocation and Cloud hosting services provide businesses with a secure hosting environment.

Customers can use a section of technical space (of not less than 1 full rack) within this shared Data Centre area - enclosed by a partitioned perimeter, secured with proximity security and monitored by CCTV. We offer full 42U Colocation racks from 16 Amps to 32 Amps.

Access by proximity photo ID cards comes as standard and the suites are also monitored by CCTV. In addition, power can be tailored to a client's exact requirements - with single phase up to 32 Amps and three phase up to 64 Amps available per footprint.

Our next generation data centre in Reading was more than a year in the planning. It's built for efficiency in power usage, cooling, monitoring and maintenance. We've selected the best equipment available from leading vendors including new carrier grade Cisco ASR9000 routers, Cisco Nexus 7000 switches, Riello / Perkins generators (N+1), Rittal cold aisle pods and Weatherite BTR45EC air handling units.

Fresh (or free) air cooling
One of the key efficiency drivers at our Reading facility is free (or fresh) air cooling. In colder months we suck in ambient air from outside the data centre via window louvres, rather than cooling it with energy-hungry chiller units all year round.

The cost of energy is increasing exponentially year-on-year. It's now more important than ever to act responsibly and use the most efficient, reliable data centres available. And where our needs are not met by existing sites we are committed to building our own - to a blueprint that protects us and our customers for years to come.

Every aspect of power, security, cooling and protection was carefully considered and the best technologies choosen. The result is a next-generation UK Data Centre aiming at a Power Unit Effectiveness (PUE) rating of 1.25 or better. Most UK data centres currently achieve only 2+.
